Bio

Laura Kirshenbaum (IL/FR) is a choreographer, dancer, and a teacher. She holds a master’s degree in choreography from the exerce program (ICI–CCN Montpellier / Paul-Valéry University, 2018). Her dance training includes studies in Kibbutz Dance training program and with choreographer Yasmeen Godder. In 2016, she received the danceWEB scholarship at Vienna’s ImPulsTanz festival.

Laura’s practice spans site-specific works and stage creations, weaving voice, body, and image into layered compositions. She views choreography as an expanded field of research and creation that generates diverse knowledge—sensual, perceptive, physical, and social. Sound and voice are integral, sculpting spatial relationships and movement dynamics while connecting personal experience with the collective. Through this tension, she questions perception, power relations, and her relationship to the broad notion of the “other”—including animals, plants, humans, and the environment—and works within a framework of interconnectedness to create connections, reimagining the familiar and calling for new ways of seeing and listening.

Supported by ICI–CCN through the European Creative Crossroads program (2018–2020), Laura created the solo NO HARD FEELINGS (2021). In 2023, she premiered In the Garden, a project dedicated to botanical gardens, supported by the Nos Lieux Communs network. A year after she created The Calling, an eco-concert for Far festival, and In 2026, she will develop an extended version of The Calling at the Natural History Museum of Neuchâtel (CH).In parallel to her own creative endeavours, in 2023 she co-founded the Platform for Post-Human Knowledge with researcher Alix de Morant, which will host several activities in the coming year.

She currently works as a dancer with choreographers Lisanne Goodhue, DD Dorvillier, and Pierre-Benjamin Nantel and has worked extensively with choreographer Laurent Pichaud. Laura regularly teaches at ICI–CCN (Atelier en commun), Paul-Valéry University, and other venues.
