Sometime in 2021, Laura Kirshenbaum and researcher Alix de Morant (Associate Professor of Theatrical and Choreographic Aesthetics at Paul Valéry University Montpellier 3) discovered a shared deep appreciation for the thought-provoking and multidimensional work of feminist philosopher Rosi Braidotti. Two years after, they co-founded The Platform for Post-Human Knowledge— a philo-choreographic project. The first phase of this evolving initiative, titled “Sourcing, Sharing, Performing,” centered on Braidotti’s work, especially in relation to the launch of her 2022 book, Posthuman Feminism.
From January to July 2023, a group of international artists gathered to read, share and exchange thoughts and knowledge within the framework of the Posthuman Feminism (PHF) reading group. The group included Marion Storm, Kai Simon Soteger, Silvia Sorina, Galit Criden, Dragana Alfirevic, Daniel Lühmann, Mathieu Gabard, and Paola Stella Minni, among other artists who visited us throughout the gathering.
To conclude the reading process and celebrate Braidotti’s work, several events took place in November 2023 as part of this initiative: an open class within the Master exerce program featuring philosopher Rosi Braidotti, a study day at Paul Valéry University, and a closing event at the Glassbox-Sud gallery in Montpellier.
These events, including Rosi Braidotti’s visit to Montpellier, were supported by ICI-CCN and the Master exerce program for choreography and research, Paul Valéry University, Erasmus+, Glassbox-Sud, and the Magdalena Festival.
